I conduct research on structural color photonic materials based on the self-assembly of colloidal particles. In particular, I focus on photonic balls and biologically derived photonic crystals, aiming to elucidate the relationship between their microstructures and optical responses.
In addition, I seek to understand the fundamental mechanisms underlying structural color and to extend these insights toward the development of highly saturated, angle-insensitive structural color materials.
